FINDING GOD EVEN DURING TRIALS

October 08, 2024

Adapted from a sermon by Bryant Wright, Founder, RFTH

“Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”
Job 2:10

In the saga of Job, we find a man tested beyond measure.

Yet, Job’s faith, though shaken, remained steadfast.

His story mirrors our own trials. When life disappoints, we question, “Where is God?” But amidst adversity, God remains sovereign. Job’s ordeal teaches us that nothing happens without His knowledge. Even in our darkest moments, God’s hand is at work.

Job’s wife, overwhelmed by grief, urged him to curse God and die. Yet Job refused to surrender his integrity. His response to her, “Shall we accept good from God and not trouble?” echoes through the ages, challenging us to trust God even when life seems unfair. When disappointment threatens to drown us, remember Job’s unwavering faith.

The sovereignty of God can be a difficult concept to grasp, especially when we’re facing adversity. It’s easy to question His goodness when life takes unexpected turns. But Job’s story reminds us that God’s plans are higher than ours, and His ways are beyond our understanding. In our pain, we may not see the purpose behind our suffering, but we can trust that God is working all things together for our good.

Lean into God’s promises as you navigate life’s disappointments. He is our refuge and strength, a present help in times of trouble. In Him, we find comfort, peace, and hope.

Though the journey may be fraught with trials, we can rest assured that God is with us every step of the way.
