Are you living a life of purpose? What’s the ultimate meaning of life? Why do you exist? Let’s take a look at some of the ways people try to find the answers to these important questions.
We live in a very driven culture where most successful people set GOALSto help them stay motivated and focused as they pursue success. But here’s the amazing thing: if we set goals just for the purpose of achievement or success, then very often we can reach those goals and still feel empty inside. You can find yourself once again restless and wondering if all this success is really all there is to life. Have you ever thought to yourself, “I’ve achieved everything that I sought to do; what now?” Believe it or not, goal setting is not the answer.
EDUCATION is another way to find meaning. Now, we know that education can certainly enrich our understanding of life, but after speaking with a couple of successful MIT graduates, even incredible academic success can still leave you feeling empty inside. Education isn’t the answer.
Then there is WORK. When you pour yourself into your work, you will understand more about yourself – that’s part of why God created us. Finding meaningful and fulfilling work is part of how we live a purposeful and full life. But even when you’re successful at work, you can still be empty. No, work isn’t the answer.
What about all the people and RELATIONSHIPS in our lives? I’m talking about friends, family members, and co-workers; now, I think we’re getting close. While all of these relationships are important, you won’t truly discover your life’s purpose until you are in the ultimate relationship with Jesus Christ.
JESUS is the answer. Jesus is key to discovering your ultimate reason for living.
