FOCUS ON CHRIST TO INCREASE IN YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF YOURSELF

Colossians 3:1-4, 1John 4:17b

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. *… as he is, so are we in this world.

Jesus did not only come to reveal the character and nature of God the Father to us, He also came to reveal to us who we really are. He came to show us the kind of life we now have and the kind of things we can do because we have the life of God in us just like He does. This is why Jesus said we can do the same works that He did and even greater works, (John 14:12). This is why He sent us into the world just as the Father sent Him, (John 20:21). O what a great joy and privilege to have been made one with Jesus by God, (1Cor.6:17). To share in His likeness and fullness.

You must change the way you see and define yourself. You are a new creature. Our first text above says Christ is our life. His reality is our reality and what is not true about Him is not true about us.

It is good to be wowed by the wonderful things we see and discover about Jesus as we study the scriptures, but that is not enough. We need to realize that those wonderful things are also true about us. We need to see ourselves in Christ behaving like Him whenever we see Christ in the scriptures. This is God’s desire for us. Our destiny is to be conformed to the image of Christ (Rom.8:29) and to attain His fullness, (Eph.4:13& 15). Increase in your focus on Christ.

Prayer:
I thank you, Dear Father, for making me one with Christ. Reveal Christ more to me and help me know myself more.
