Focus on How Jesus Spoke 2
John 7:32, 44-46 (GNB), Matthew 7:28-29 (TPT)
The Pharisees heard the crowd whispering … about Jesus, so they and the chief priests sent some guards to arrest him. *Some wanted to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him. When the guards went back, the chief priests and Pharisees asked them, “Why did you not bring him?” The guards answered, “Nobody has ever talked like this man!” *By the time Jesus finished speaking, the crowds were awestruck by his teaching, because his words carried such great authority, quite unlike the religious scholars.
In John 5:39, Jesus confirmed that the scriptures testify of Him. When He came to Nazareth, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the scriptures. The scroll of Isaiah, the prophet, was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see,
that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come. ”He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently. Then he began to speak to them. “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!” (Luke 4:16-21, NLT).
In John 5:17 (GNB), “Jesus answered them, “My Father is always working, and I too must work.” Jesus said, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world” (John 9:4-5). In John 4:34, Jesus said to His disciples, “…My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” In Matthew 26:53, Jesus added, “Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?” (Matt.26:53, NIV). Jesus said to His disciples, ““Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children” (Mark 10:14, NLT). After Jesus told the accusers of the woman caught in adultery that the one who was without sin should cast the first stone, He later said to her, “neither do I condemn you: go and sin no more (John 8:1-11).
Faith Declaration:
As Jesus always spoke with boldness and love, I also speak with boldness and love because I am one with Him.
