FREEDOM FROM THE WRATH OF GOD’S JUDGMENT

ROMANS 5:7-9 (LB) Even if we were good, we really wouldn’t expect anyone to die for us, though, of course, that might be barely possible. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since by his blood he did all this for us as sinners, how much more will he do for us now that he has declared us not guilty? Now he will save us from all of God’s wrath to come.

One of the things we are saved from by the virtue of our faith in Christ and what He did on the Cross, is the wrath of God’s judgment to come.

God the Father does not judge anyone at the moment. God has placed Jesus in charge of carrying out His judgement, according to John 5:22. The primary reason for anyone’s condemnation is their refusal to believe in Jesus (John 3:18). Anyone who does not believe in Jesus has automatically rejected the price Jesus paid for their salvation. According to 2Thessalonians 1:7-8 (LB), “And so I would say to you who are suffering, God will give you rest along with us when the Lord Jesus appears suddenly from heaven in flaming fire with his mighty angels, bringing judgement on those who do not wish to know God and who refuse to accept his plan to save them through our Lord Jesus Christ.” God’s wrath is coming down on the children of disobedience. You used to act like them, but you are now a different creature (Col.3:5-7). Because of your faith in Jesus, you now have a new nature and are a child of God. Jesus will not return to judge His saints in the same way that He will judge the world. He is returning to be glorified in His saints and admired by all who believe in Him (2Thes.1:10).

PRAYER:
I thank you, Father, that through my faith in Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross, I am free from the wrath of your coming judgement.
