When my sons became teenagers, they did not necessarily do what I told them to do – they began to do what I did! Before long every parent begins to see in their children not the values or lessons they have tried to teach, but the behavior they have modeled. Luke’s Gospel tells us that Jesus grew in mind, body, and spirit. He grew up to be like His Father and to be about His Father’s business.
The time Jesus spent with God the Father shaped His life. The time our children spend with us will shape their lives, too. So make sure your behavior and life priorities model a genuine relationship with the Heavenly Father. You will be helping your children grow as Jesus did, and to be about the Father’s business.
