GIVE PRIORITY TO GOD AND HIS KINGDOM

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matthew 6:33-34 (KJV)

If we can change our focus from the pursuit of things in life and begin to pursue God, things will gravitate toward us. When our focus changes, we will not spend too much time seeking things. We will not be overly concerned about this; I don’t have this, and I don’t have that. Your Heavenly Father knows that you need things. He knows that you need them, but you have the wrong priority. God should be your priority.

The book of Colossians 3:1-4 (KJV) tells us: “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”

Focus on God! Don’t focus on things! When Paul was about to go to Rome, you know what he said to the church? “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.”
(Acts 20:32 KJV)

He was simply saying, you are secured in God’s hand. You cannot make God your priority and you won’t be built up. Do you know that that was the secret to the success of Jesus? Jesus was a man and yet God. The secret to His success was that He was pursuing God. Check it through in the Bible. Jesus’ pursuit was God the Father. That was what kept Him at the cutting edge and that was what sustained Him. He was constantly seeking the presence of God. We are called to follow in His footsteps.
