GIVING GOD THANKS LIKE JESUS DID
Ephesians 5:20, John 6:11 (TPT), Matthew 11:25 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father …*Jesus then took the barley loaves and the fish and gave thanks to God. He then gave it to the disciples to distribute to the people. Miraculously, the food multiplied, with everyone eating as much as they wanted! *In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
Jesus was a very thankful person and He gave thanks to God a lot when He was on the earth. As we focus on the thankful attitude of Jesus today, the Spirit of God will produce in us that same thankful attitude that Jesus has.
There are two scenarios in our text above where Jesus gave thanks unto God in situations where we may not have ordinarily wanted to give thanks unto God. When it looked like the resources available (five loaves of bread and two fish) were insufficient for the task at hand (feeding a multitude of five thousand people), Jesus gave thanks unto God and the seemingly scarcity of the moment turned into an overflow of abundance. Remember that Jesus always did what He saw the Father doing (John 5:19). Thanksgiving must have been one of the things that helped Jesus to always see and know what God the Father was doing. As He gave thanks to God, the supernatural power of God was activated in that situation. The wisdom, power and favour of God began to flow.

At another time, Jesus gave thanks unto God for revealing something unto people through Him. When a similar thing happened in Luke 10:17- 21, the Bible says Jesus rejoiced in spirit and gave thanks to God. This is something we could have overlooked, but Jesus rejoiced and thanked God for it. At the grave of Lazarus, the Bible says, “Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank you that you have heard me. And I know that you hear me always…,” (John 11:41-43). What a place to give God thanks and what a reason to give God thanks. Again the miraculous power of God flowed out of Him and Lazarus was raised from the dead. The grace to thank God abundantly like Jesus is upon you.
Action Point:
Rejoice and give God thanks right now for as many things as you can remember. Thank God for giving you victory already.
