GIVING REQUIRES TRUST IN GOD
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)
Trust is evidence that you are committed to God. You need to trust in the Lord to honour Him the way you should with your substance. Anyone who cannot trust Him will not be able to honour Him. Honouring God requires that you don’t concentrate on the immediate and ephemeral things. You must look at things in the long run.
“There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth, and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” (Proverbs 11:24-25 KJV)
Anyone who is a true giver will agree with me that if you want to make use of your understanding you will not give. This is because everything around you will be crying: “Be careful, you know that you have got to save some money, especially now that the global economy is shaky, and many currencies are depreciating in value. If you truly want to be a giver, then when others begin to calculate, throw away your calculator. When it comes to God, throw away your calculator. Do not lean on your understanding because when you do that, your giving to God will be rational. When it comes to giving to God and how it will multiply back, there is no way you can figure it out. You can’t.
If you want to understand how it will work out, you will not give up. Don’t lean on your understanding. If the Father needs it, give it. If He needs your time, give it. If He needs your home give it. If He needs your money, give it. If He needs your gift, give it.
Don’t try to understand how it will work out or how it will come back. You should not only read the scriptures, but you should also live them. Live it as a lifestyle. It works.
