GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY

Philippians 1:20, 1Corinthians 6:19-20 (GNB)

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always…Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. *Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you …who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God; he bought you for a price. So use your bodies for God’s glory.

When you purchase an appliance, do you purchase it so that the appliance can do whatever it likes and ‘enjoy itself’? Or do you purchase it so that you can enjoy or derive pleasure from using that appliance? God purchased you at a very high price (the precious blood of Jesus, 1Pet.1:18-19) and now your entire life and your body belong to God. Acknowledging this is the beginning of glorifying God in your body. You can no longer do whatever you like with your body. Everything you do with your body should be to glorify or bring pleasure to God.

Your body is special and sacred. It is the Holy Spirit’s temple. Do not allow anything or anyone pollute or defile you. Guard, build and use your body for the glory and pleasure of God. We shall all give account for what we did with our bodies. “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad,” (2Cor.5:10). Desire and find pleasure in glorifying God in your body, (Heb.1:9).

No matter how pleasurable sin may look and feel, sin destroys your body/ life and it displeases and dishonours God. On the other hand, no matter how difficult and painful holiness and righteous living may look and feel, they preserve and benefit your body/ life as well as honouring and glorifying God.

Prayer:
I thank you Father, for purchasing me with the precious blood of Jesus. My body belongs to you. I desire to glorify you with my body.
