“And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet”Mark 5:22 KJV Grace is a higher platform by which God has made provision for our complete salvation and total victory. Where the law was found wanting, grace came to the rescue. In our text for today, you would notice that religion did not give any chance to this man. Jairus was a religious man and one of the rulers of the synagogue. He was an expert in law and his law could not help him. Whenever you want to earn what God has made available to you freely, you would always end up frustrated.  Religion is man’s effort to reach God. And you would discover that the higher you get in your effort to reach Him, the farther He is. Christianity is not about what you do to make yourself acceptable to God. It is about what God has done for you so that you would be acceptable unto Him. It is not what you do so that God will accept you. It is not a case of ‘let me make more effort, let me make more sacrifice, let me do this and do that.’ No!  That is religion!  Christianity is what God Himself did on your behalf. You were not qualified! He qualified you.  That puts every responsibility from you and places it on God. Colossians 1:12-13 says ‘Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.’Anytime you seek to qualify for what God has given freely, your best is never enough. Further reading: Colossians 1:9-14, Mark 5:22-24Daily Bible Reading: Morning- Daniel 1-2; Evening- 1 John 4
