God Has Sent People Ahead of You

Isaiah 45:2-3 (NIV), Psalms 105:17 (GNB, LB), 1 Kings 17:9 (LB)
I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name. *But he sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, who had been sold as a slave. *Then he sent Joseph as a slave to Egypt to save his people from starvation. *“Go and live in the village of Zarephath, … There is a widow there who will feed you. I have given her my instructions.”

The Israelites were likely worried about their survival during the severe global famine of their day. However, God had already gone ahead to clear the way for them. God had sent Joseph ahead of them because the Israelites needed to be preserved to fulfil God’s purpose. Jesus is going to come through their lineage. In the same way, there are often times we may find ourselves in places or situations that we are unsure of how we will survive but God wants us to know that He has gone ahead of us and made preparations for us so that we will be preserved to fulfil His purpose for our lives. God has sent people ahead for you. You will find favour in their sight and they will be a blessing to you.

Before Haman started plotting against the Jews in Esther chapter 3, God had already sent and positioned Esther in the palace in Esther chapter 2. After the brook Cherith dried up during the famine in Israel, God prepared a woman in Zarephath who was to feed Elijah. Similarly, in the same way God sent Jesus ahead of us (Heb 4:14-16), God has already made provisions for you by sending people ahead for you. I pray for you that at the right time and at the right place, you will meet them and you will find favour in their sight. They will be a blessing to you.

This help may not come in the manner in which you may expect it or from the people we expect it from. The Bible says, “When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him” (Prov.16:7). Keep your eyes on God and not on the people that He uses to bless you. God will do exceedingly abundantly above all you ask or imagine by His power at work in you (Eph.3:20).

Prayer:
I thank you, my Way maker, for the people you have already sent ahead of me to show me favour and your blessings.
