God’s Definition of Sufficiency

2 Corinthians 3:5 (KJV, GNB), 2 Corinthians 9:8 (AMP)
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God. *There is nothing in us that allows us to claim that we are capable of doing this work. The capacity we have comes from God. *And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work…

God’s definition of sufficiency varies greatly from man’s definition of sufficiency. Remember that God’s thoughts and way are higher than the thoughts and ways of men- in much the same way as the heaven are higher than the earth (Isa.55:8-9). In man’s definition, sufficiency relates to having enough to satisfy one’s needs. In God’s definition, sufficiency far exceed those limitations. Rather, sufficiency revolves around the capacity to not only satisfy your needs but to meet the needs of others and carry out God’s will. Sufficiency is being empowered to fulfil God’s will and purpose for your life.

You are not on earth for yourself. You are on earth to fulfil God’s purpose for your life: touching, influencing and blessing the lives of others. God does not just bless us so that we can be blessed. He blesses us so that we can be a blessing. God wants us to lend or be a blessing to nations (Deut.28:12, Psa.2:8). God does not want you to remain a container of His blessings. He wants you to be channel of His blessings. Your life alone cannot contain the kind of blessings God wants to pour into your life. Raise your vision. Think beyond yourself. Think global. God has a great purpose and plan for your life; envision something that far exceeds what eyes have seen, ears have heard and minds have imagined (1Cor.2:9-10). He will reveal it to you by His Spirit and He will equip, empower and provide for you to accomplish it.

Your sufficiency is not in things or in man. Do not trust in the arm of the flesh. Your sufficiency is in God, your source. You are complete in Him (Col.2:10). You do not lack and you are equipped for good works.

Faith Declaration:
God is my sufficiency. I am complete in Him. I have the capacity to meet my needs and the needs of others. I do good works.
