God’s Word is Trustworthy

“Then the Lord answered me and said: ‘Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.’”

Ponder This

I read a story about a young man who went to a revival. The preacher preached from John 5:24, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” The boy believed that message, gave his heart to Christ, and was saved. When he gave testimony of that account he said “That night, when I walked home, it seemed as if Satan were perched on my shoulder, whispering in my ear, saying ‘You’re not saved; you’re not good enough; you’re not strong enough. You didn’t do this; you didn’t do that; you’ll never make it.” He went home and Satan kept taunting him. He sat on the couch in his living room and the doubt continued. He said, “I got to thinking, well, maybe I’m not saved. I’d better look at that verse again.”

And he picked it up, “Most assuredly, I say to you.” He said, “Well, Jesus is speaking.” He read, “he who hears My Word.” He said, “I’ve heard it.” He read, “and believes in Him who sent Me.” He said, “I believed.” He read, “has everlasting life.” He said, “I have everlasting life. There, devil, read it for yourself!” From that moment on, he had assurance. You see, it is the Word of God, not your feelings, that gives assurance.
