Good Riddance: Thank Him for His Forgiveness

Restore us, O God; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved!
Psalm 80:3

No one knows why, but the owner of a classic Porsche 911 Targa S parked it in a barn, put plastic over it, and there it sat for nearly forty years. Recently discovered, the car “was in a wretched state.” A restoration company disassembled it, and the various components were sanded, primed, painted, stitched, reassembled, and restored to their former glory. Today the car is stunning.

The devil tries to keep us in the barn of brokenness until we deteriorate. But God is in the restoration business. He uses the sandpaper of salvation, the red paint of His blood, the tools of His grace, and the polish of His peace.

Under His care, we can say, “good riddance” to the rottenness that has damaged our interiors and the mice that have chewed away at our hearts. He promises, “I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten” (Joel 2:25).

Thank Him today for His forgiveness and for making us classic people of immense value!

Christ redeems humanity from sin, reconciles us to God and one another, restores us to our full humanity, resurrects us from the death that our rebellion brings, and promises to ultimately restore all things.
