GRACE TO ALWAYS PROMOTE LOVE AND UNITY (1)

Ephesians 4:1-3 (GNB)

I urge you, then… live a life that measures up to the standard God set when he called you. Be always humble, gentle, and patient. Show your love by being tolerant with one another. Do your best to preserve the unity which the Spirit gives by means of the peace that binds you together. There is one body and one Spirit, just as there is one hope to which God has called you.

So many believers do not know how important our walking in love and unity is to the heart of God. In John 17:20-23, Jesus prayed for us to be one. He prayed for us to be one because by His life in us we have the capacity to be one just like He is one with the Father. I believe that this is also a major part of the prayers that Jesus is still praying for us right now. Until there is unity amongst us on earth as there is unity in Heaven, God’s will cannot be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Jesus said, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another,” (John 13:35). The Passion Translation says, “So I give you now a new commandment: Love each other just as much as I have loved you. For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another, everyone will know that you’re my true followers.”

How much do you desire to walk in love and unity with others? According to our text above we must be ready to exhibit humility, gentleness, patience and tolerance with one another; and these are all part of the fruit of the Spirit, (Gal.5:22-23). In which of these areas do you desire more of the help of the Spirit? He will help you.

Prayer:
Please help me, Heavenly Father, by your Spirit, to be humble, gentle, patient, and tolerant of others. Assist me in promoting unity.
