GRACE TO KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS, NOT ON PEOPLE

Genesis 39:3-4, 20

And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. *And Joseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.

If you want to be stable and you want to prosper and flourish in life, then you must be deliberate about not fixing your eyes or hope on people. Focusing on people is like building your house on sand. People can change, but Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever, (Heb.13:8).

The same Potiphar who saw that the Lord was with Joseph and promoted Joseph and put him in charge of all he had, took Joseph and put him in prison. Of course, Potiphar felt it was the right thing to do based on the information and evidence he had before him at the time. Joseph had also experienced some high level of hostility from his brothers, who may have been very warm and nice to him at a time in the past. When God makes you find favour in the sight of people, don’t turn them into your god. And
don’t allow the fact that such people later change their attitude towards you to throw you off balance.

As long as your eyes remain on God, you will still experience God’s will and plan for your life, (Jer.17:5-8). All things will work together for your good. What then will you do when the attitude of people suddenly change towards you? Keep your eyes on Jesus and receive His grace and wisdom to keep walking in love and doing His will.

Prayer:
Dear Father, please help me to keep my eyes on you. Help me not to be moved when the attitude of people change towards me.
