GRACE TO PERSEVERE AND BE STEADFAST IN PRAYER

Luke 22:40-44 (GNB)

…he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” Then he went…about…a stone’s throw and knelt down and prayed. “Father,”… “if you will, take this cup of suffering away from me. Not my will, however, but your will be done.” An angel…appeared to him and strengthened him. In great anguish he prayed even more fervently; his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.

In Luke 18:1, the Bible says, “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” One thing we can do to stir up God’s grace to help us persevere and remain steadfast in every area of our lives is to pray. Prayer itself is something we must continue to persevere and remain steadfast in.

Prayer is a wonderful privilege and opportunity to fellowship with God and stir up His love, life, grace and wisdom in our lives. God wants us to always come boldly to His throne of grace to obtain His mercy and find His grace to help us in our time of need, (Heb.4:16). He wants us to pray without ceasing, (1Thes.5:17). Instead of being anxious about any situation, God wants us to pray about it with thanksgiving and His abundant peace will flood our hearts, (Phil.4:6-7).

When Jesus was on the earth, prayer was a major priority in His life, (Mark 1:35, Luke 5:15-16, Luke 6:12). Even when He was about to go to the Cross and feeling discouraged, He prayed and stirred up God’s strength to launch forward with the plan. David said, “From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I,” (Psa.61:2). Keep praying always, pray by the help of the Spirit and pray for others also, (Eph.6:18).

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the privilege and opportunity to always come to you in prayer. Help me remain consistent in prayer.
