GRACE TO STAY CLEAR OF EVIL COMPANY

1CORINTHIANS 15:33-34 (AMPC)

Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (…) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character. Awake […] to sober sense and your right minds, and sin no more. For some of you have not the knowledge of God [you are utterly…and disgracefully ignorant, and continue to be so, lacking the sense of God’s presence and all true knowledge of Him]. I say this to your shame.

The major reason some believers are unable to live right and be all that God wants them to be is because of the kind of company they keep. God is very concerned about the kind of company we keep, (Psa.1:1). “Keep company with the wise and you will become wise. If you make friends with stupid people, you will be ruined,” (Prov.13:20, LB). “Don’t befriend angry people or associate with hot-tempered people, or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul,” (Prov.22:24-25, NLT).

Evil companies can either be unbelievers or false brethren. False brethren are disciples of false teachers and they can also influence you negatively. Just like unbelievers, they can make you start believing and tolerating things you should not be believing and tolerating, and before you know it you will start doing and saying things you are not supposed to be doing and saying. You start compromising. Apostle Paul had a lot of challenges with false brethren, (2 Cor.11:26, Gal.2:4). Cut away from anybody and groups of people that are not influencing you positively. If you must relate with them at all, do it with a lot of caution and do not allow them to influence you negatively. Relate more with believers and people that you know will strengthen your faith and influence you positively and spiritually, (Heb.10:25).

PRAYER:
Father, please help me to isolate myself from people who can negatively influence me. Assist me in making the right connections
