GREAT BENEFITS OF WALKING IN HOLINESS

1Peter 2:9 (LB), Matthew 5:16 (LB)

But you are not like that, for you have been chosen by God himself—you are priests of the King, you are holy and pure, you are God’s very own—all this so that you may show to others how God called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. *Don’t hide your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father.

There are numerous advantages to living holy lives as God desires. God is greatly pleased when we walk in holiness, as we discussed yesterday, and God’s name is glorified in our lives. People glorify God because we walk in holiness and reflect God’s light and nature. People are drawn to God because of us, and they are more open to receiving the Gospel message from us. As the earth is covered in darkness, we will shine God’s light, and nations and kings will be drawn to our light (Isa.60:1-3).

Proverbs 12:28 says, “In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.” As sin destroys the lives of people of the world, holiness builds our lives and makes us build lives, systems, societies, and nations, (Prov.14:34).

Though there are challenges associated with living holy, in the long run holiness brings peace, joy and boldness. It avoids pain shame and embarrassment. You won’t be afraid of times of accountability. Like Daniel, people won’t find anything to hold against you, (Dan.6:4). “Do what is right; then if men speak against you, calling you evil names, they will become ashamed of themselves for falsely accusing you when you have only done what is good,” (1Pet.3:16, LB).

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for making me holy and I thank you for the many benefits and blessings that I enjoy by living a holy life
