GROW IN YOUR LOVE FOR GOD AND HIS WAYS

John 3:17-19 (GNB), Hebrews 1:9 (GNB) For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior. Those who believe in the Son are not judged; but those who do not believe have already been judged, …. This is how the judgment works: the light has come into the world, but people love the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds are evil. *You love what is right and hate what is wrong. That is why God, your God, has chosen you and has given you the joy of an honor far greater than he gave to your companions.”

If we are going to increase in God’s life that is in us and make progress in walking in His ways, then we must maintain a great love and passion for God and His ways. This means that more than anything else, we must have great love and passion to mature in God’s Life that is in us and to be more established in God’s ways and in pleasing Him. We must always maintain a great anger and hatred towards the devil and his evil ways. No matter how pleasurable it may look, the darkness of this world leads to all kinds of trouble, evil, shame, pain, destruction and death. The light of God is where our peace, hope, life and salvation (both now and in eternity) lie.

We draw nearer to the things that we love and we run away from the things that we hate. When we love God’s light and hate the darkness of this world, we will draw nearer to God and away from the evil of this world, (Dan.1:8). One major sign of our love for God is our passion to fellowship with Him. If we are sincerely fellowshipping with God, we cannot continue walking in darkness, (1John 1:6-7).

Instead, it is the fruit of the Spirit that will be seen in us as we choose not to fellowship with the works of darkness. Ephesians 5:9-12 says, “(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.” People who love darkness have things to hide but we do not have anything to hide because we are of the light. Your passion for pleasing God will make you bold both in public and in secret.

Prayer Focus:
Tell God how much you love Him and His ways and ask Him to help you grow in your love for Him and His ways.
