GUARD YOUR HEART AGAINST FRUSTRATION

Proverbs 13:12 (AMP, CEV), 4:20-21 (TPT), Proverbs 23:18 (AMPC) Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life. *Not getting what you want can make you feel sick, but a wish that comes true is a life-giving tree. *He never stopped believing God’s promise, for he was made strong in his faith to father a child. And because he was mighty in faith and convinced that God had all the power needed to fulfill his promises, Abraham glorified God! *For surely there is a latter end [a future and a reward], and your hope and expectation shall not be cut off.

One major difference between believers and people of this world is hope. Our hope is not an ordinary one, but a supernatural one. As God’s children, we have been born into a living hope, (1Pet.1:3). A hope that extends beyond the grave (1Cor.15:13-19) and beyond the veil of the holy of holies in heaven (Heb.6:19). Jesus is our hope! He is our assurance and guarantee that all God has said about us will come to pass. Our hope is based on God’s faithful nature (Heb.10:23) and God’s exceeding great and precious promises, (2Pet.1:4). When we were without Christ, we were strangers to God’s covenant of promise and without hope, but now we have been drawn near by the blood of Jesus, (Eph. 2:12-13). Now we are partakers of God’s promise in Christ, (Eph.3:6).

Every promise God has made to us is backed up by the covenant He made with Jesus for us on the Cross. The New Covenant we are in is established upon better promises, (Heb.8:6). Now that we are standing in the grace of God, we are supposed to always be rejoicing in the hope of the glory of God (Rom.5:1-2). The glory of God is surely going to manifest in our lives and situations.

Now, our first text above says hope deferred makes the heart sick. It is natural to feel down when what you desired did not happen how or when you expected it. But the fact that it did not happen does not mean it will not happen. Don’t lose hope. It will happen bigger and better than you expect it because God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all you ask or think according to His power at work in you, (Eph.3:20). Turn that sorrow into joyful dancing and rejoicing in hope. Declare and celebrate God’s faithfulness and God’s ability to keep His promises. Your expectation shall not be cut off.

Faith Declaration:
Christ is my hope. Because of God’s faithfulness, God’s promises and God’s resurrection power, my expectation shall not be cut off.
