Memorise: ” (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.” Romans 2:13

Bible Reading: James 1:22-25

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Bible Reading In One Year: Psalms 88-89; Romans 10

MESSAGE:

It is good to read the Bible, it is also very good to listen to sermons in Church, or recorded messages, but it is better to be a hearer and doer of the dictates of the word of God. Do you know that it is very easy to read the Bible or listen to a powerful message and forget the lessons almost immediately? This is why the Bible reading for today compared a fellow who heard God’s word and did nothing to a fellow who looked at himself in a mirror and then forgets what he looks like.

When you stand in front of a mirror after dressing up, what do you do if you hair was not properly styled?, You simply adjust it. The same is for the word of God. The word of God is a mirror that reflects our personality. So whenever you listen to or read God’s word, don’t treat it as if nothing happened, the best thing to do is to make adjustment where necessary in your life, that is, do what the word tells you to do. Note that God blesses the doers not just the hearers.

Prayer Point:

Father, please grant me the grace to obey your word at a times.

Action Point:

Speak to Christian counsellors if you have experienced an abused. Also, pray for God’s help for any teenager facing abuse or that has been abused.

Hymn: When We Walk With The Lord

  1. When we walk with the Lord
    In the light of His Word,
    What a glory He sheds on our way!
    While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
    And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise,
    Not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
    Not a doubt or a fear,
    Not a sigh or a tear,
    Can abide while we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share,
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
    Not a grief or a loss,
    Not a frown or a cross,
    But is blessed if we trust and obey.
  3. But we never can prove
    The delights of His love
    Until all on the altar we lay;
    For the favor He shows,
    For the joy He bestows,
    Are for them who will trust and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet
    We will sit at His feet,
    Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
    What He says we will do,
    Where He sends we will go;
    Never fear, only trust and obey.
