Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful
When Naaman, the leper, immersed himself in the Jordan River seven times per Elisha’s instructions, he must have held onto his breath when he came up out of the muddy waters that final time. He must have been clutching hope tightly but still afraid to look.
Naaman was a war-hardened soldier who had stared death in the face, but he feared a horrifying demise at the hands of a terrible skin disease. Would the God of Israel care enough to heal him?
He had his answer when he came up the seventh time to run his hands over his limbs and to peer with incredulous eyes at skin no longer white with leprosy. He joyfully declared that there was no god in all of the earth except the God of Israel (II Kings 5:15)!
On the brink of a breakthrough, we are often tempted to fall back into doubt, to lose hope that the Lord has heard our cry and will come to our aid. Like Naaman, we are afraid to look! However, the One Who promised is able to perform it.
You may be going under for the final time, but Jesus will never abandon us in the middle of the story. When you come up gasping for air – no need to fear – you can expect cleansing, healing, and restoration!
Blessing:
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. Hold onto hope! Do not waver in your faith! Jesus is faithful to complete the good work that He began in you.
