HELP FELLOW BELIEVERS

Hebrews 13:16 (GNB, NLT), Hebrews 6:10 (KJV, GNB) Do not forget to do good and to help one another, because these are the sacrifices that please God. *And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God. *For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. *God is not unfair. He will not forget the work you did or the love you showed for him in the help you gave and are still giving to other Christians.

The Bible tells us that faith works by love (Gal.5:6). “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death,” (1John 3:14). In introducing most of his letters, the Apostle Paul usually commended both the faith and the love of fellow believers. Our love for one another is a major fruit of our faith in God. Our faith is in the love of God and when we indeed receive the love of God, it will reflect in the way we live our lives. As new creatures, we have the nature of God right now and the Bible tells us that God is love, (1John 4:7-8). Just as God so loved the world that He gave, in our expression of God’s life and nature, we must love so much that we give. We must give to help and be a blessing to others. We must be concerned about those in need and make an effort to help them come out of that condition. Jesus said when we see the least of His brethren or a fellow believer hungry, thirsty, in need of hospitality, clothing, sick or in prison and we visit them, we are doing it unto Him, (Matt.25:35-40).
“If we are rich and see others in need, yet close our hearts against them, how can we claim that we love God? My children, our love should not be just words and talk; it must be true love, which shows itself in action.” (1John 3:17-18, GNB). “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith,” (Gal.6:10). Though the believers in Macedonia were poor, they joyfully and willingly gave to the needs of other believers. Apostle Paul said of them, “They begged us and pleaded for the privilege of having a part in helping God’s people in Judea.” (2Cor.8:4, GNB). Verse 1 shows us this was a product of the revelation of God’s grace.

Prayer Focus:

Ask God to use you to help someone in need right now. Pray for God’s help and provision for people in need, especially fellow believers.
