“HONOUR PASTORS”

“Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth” – Ephesians 6:2-3

The person who teaches you and feeds you may become a father to you. Many people stand in the place of a father when they minister to you. Honouring them is important because they are truly fathers to you. Giving honour to a father invokes the promise of a good and long life.

Honour your pastor and it will give life to your relationship with your pastor. It is easy to ignore what a pastor does for you! You must honour your pastor because he watches over your soul. The pastor is someone who has been sent into your life to watch over you and shepherd you to eternity. If you honour someone who is sent to you, you are honouring the Father. Follow what is in the Bible so that you will have the blessings. Showing honour is one of the most important spiritual exercises you can engage in.

You must honour your pastor in the way the Bible prescribes. Double honour is extra honour that is given to someone who deserves it. To dishonour someone is to fail to reward him or to pay him adequately for his great contribution, inputs and his worth to your life. The scriptures teach us that pastors who rule well must be honoured.

Honour is important to prevent ingratitude and forgetfulness. God does not like people who forget things that have been done for them. Ingratitude kills relationships! God Himself is not unrighteous to forget your good works. When you are ungrateful and forgetful about what your pastor has done for you, you place yourself in spiritual danger. No church member is neutral.
