HOW DAVID DISPLAYED SPIRITUAL MINDEDNESS
1Samuel 17:26, 32 (NKJV)
Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”*Then David said to Saul, “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.”
David saw the very same Goliath that King Saul and the Israelite army were seeing, but he had a very different attitude and response to Goliath. While King Saul and the entire Israelite army were looking at Goliath’s physical stature and how massive his weapons were, David was looking at God’s spiritual might and how by the snap of a finger, Goliath can cease to exist if God says so. King Saul and the Israelite army were not at all conscious of God and the covenant God had with them in that situation.
David was conscious of this and his heart was full of faith. While David was spiritually minded, King Saul and the Israelite army were being carnally minded. Goliath’s CV or experience as a soldier was no match for the Ancient of Days and the LORD of hosts (the One who commands the entire universe as His army), 1Chron.11:9.
Beloved, what is that challenge before you right now and how are you responding to it? Are you being spiritually minded or are you being carnally minded? Because God was with David, his little stone could do much more than Goliath’s mighty spear and shield. The horse is prepared against the day of battle, but safety is of the Lord, (Prov.21:31). Do not despise what you have. With God on your side, your five loaves of bread can feed five thousand people.
Faith Declaration:
Because the LORD of hosts is with me, I shall be victorious over this challenge before me.
