HOW GOD WANTS YOU TO RESIST THE DEVIL (2)

EPHESIANS 4:26-27 (GNB), JAMES 1:19-20 (KJV & GNB) If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin, and do not stay angry all day. Don’t give the Devil a chance. *…let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. *…Everyone must be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry. Human anger does not achieve God’s righteous purpose.

Another vital way to resist the devil is by being deliberate about controlling our emotions; for example anger. “He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city,” (Prov. 16:32). “If you cannot control your anger, you are as helpless as a city without walls, open to attack,” (Prov.25:28, GNB). Do you know that God Himself is slow to anger? (Psa. 145:8) And His anger is but for a moment? (Psa.30:5).

It is not wrong to be angry, but anger should not be allowed to build and degenerate into something else that can make you yield to the devil, instead of resisting him. Every time you forgive and let go of your anger, you are not being foolish, you are being wise. You are yielding yourself to God and resisting the devil. Don’t allow that hurt to lead to bitterness. The trouble in many people’s lives is because of the bitterness in their hearts. (Heb.12:14-15). When Apostle Paul spoke about us not being ignorant of the devil’s devices, he was talking about the importance of forgiveness, (2 Cor.2:5-11).

Most of the issues we have with people, is simply the devil trying to distract us and influence us negatively, (Eph.6:12). This is why God wants us to know how to overcome evil with good, (Rom.12:20-21).

PRAYER:
Dear Father, please help me to always resist the devil by controlling my emotions and yielding myself to you
