How Long Will Thou Sleep?
by Apostle (Prof.) Johnson Suleman

Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 5-8

Text: “How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?” Proverbs 6 :9.

What is your usefulness? How useful are you in the house of God? How long are you going to let God’s talent/investment on you goes to waste? Rahab even though she was a prostitute protected the two spies sent and because of that God spared her family. She used her expertise in handling men to deal with the men that came to fetch out the two spies. She found salvation because she helped God’s people. Joshua 2 :4; “And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:”

You have been on the church, born, baptized, getting old in the church. You have all the history and story of every member, what positive impact have you made in the church except to see mistakes and complains? Make positive contribution, Rahab’s name is in the hall mark of fame not minding her background. Your background is not the reason why your back is on the ground. Wake up and build in the house of God.

In Acts 9:39; Dorcas was a woman that made positive impact in her life time that even at her death, her works showed up for her. Scriptures said they showed Peter the things she made for them. What have you to show or are you a sleeping giant? What have you to show on the day of reckoning?

Hezekiah was told that he will die, he should put his house in order, but he turned to the walk and asked God, the dead cannot praise you, only the living can? And God knows he praises him. What is that thing you are known for in the house of God or are you allowing God’s deposit in you to waste?

Isaiah 38:3; “And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.” And God added fifteen more years to him. What vacuum will you leave when you are gone? Who will miss you?

Prayer: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, help me to awake from every slumber and be useful with the talent you have given me.
