How many mask?
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.” – JAMES 3:1700:0001:55
The last item in this list is “without hypocrisy.” We know the word hypocrite means to “wear a mask,” or to “play act.” In early dramas, one actor might play multiple parts, so he would put on a different mask to represent each role he played. Many of us, myself included, know what it’s like to wear a dozen different masks. We might wear one mask with our friends, one with our family, and another one in church. Over time, we perfect our ability to switch masks depending on our circumstances. But someone who gets wisdom from above is the same person 24/7.
In every situation, every relationship, there is continuity. James says that when we seek to live on the basis of God’s wisdom from above, we will take off our masks. So, seek that wisdom, trust God to give it to you – and get real.
