MEMORISE: “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6
Read: Matthew 7:7-11
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 45-46, 2 Peter 3
MESSAGE:
When some people pray to God, they ask for peanuts instead of big things. God has a whole lot to give His children, but sometimes, we ourselves limit what we receive.
The widow of the late Prophet in 2 Kings 4:1-7 was asked to borrow empty vessels and pour the little oil she had into them. Until they were all filled, the oil did not stop. If she had borrowed more containers, she would still have them filled them all. When Elijah was to be taken away, he asked Elisha to make his request, Elisha requested for double portion of His anointing and he got what he wanted. If he had requested for ten times more, he would have received it.
To what extent do you thirst for a great future? Do you also know that you are not too young to covet the gifts of the Holy Spirit and function in them.
Key Point:
You cannot be filled beyond the vacuum created by your thirst.
Hymn 7:
1 I am Thine oh Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Chorus:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
3 Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!
4 There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
