HOW TO BE ABASED

PHILIPPIANS 4:12 (KJV, GNB) I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. *I know what it is to be in need and what it is to have more than enough. I have learned this secret, so that anywhere, at any time, I am content, whether I am full or hungry, whether I have too much or too little.

Yesterday, we studied how to abound or how to behave when we have abundance. Today we shall focus on how to be abased; which is how to behave when we are in need or when we have little or nothing.

The first thing is, don’t become low-minded or depressed. Don’t begin to see yourself as disadvantaged or incapacitated. Don’t doubt or limit God because you don’t have a lot of resources at the moment. Though at the moment you may be low on certain material resources, you are complete in Christ (Col.2:10) and you can still do all things through Christ that strengthens you, (Phil.4:13). Your resources do not limit God; it is your faith that matters. Keep remembering that God is your source and all things are possible to him that believes, (Mark 9:23).

If you are ever in need or in a state where you have little or nothing, know that it is temporal. Don’t let the devil capitalize on that temporal situation to start lying to you about who you are, what you have, where you are and what you can do in Christ. Don’t start pitying yourself or looking for pity. Remain strong in faith. Remain conscious of God’s great love, presence, power, promises, and plans for your life. Ask God for His provision and wisdom. He will grant it to you abundantly. God is your sufficiency and His grace is sufficient for you. By the wisdom and strength of Christ, no condition will ever limit you or distract you from being all God wants you to be and doing all God wants you to do.

PRAYER:
Dear Father, I am grateful for your abundant wisdom and provision, which are always available to me. Please help me remember this
