Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
–Colossians 3:23-24
In 1950, a 19-year-old Christian named Sam Moore was looking for ways he could work his way through college. “I’ve got it,” he thought. “I’ll sell Bibles door to door!” He began to work with the World Bible Company, and was one day invited to their headquarters in New York City to meet the owners.
He was invited to dinner with the CEO one night, and met him at one of the nicest restaurants in town. The two sat down, and the man began swearing and profaning the name of God. Sam was taken aback and asked, “Sir, how can you publish all these Bibles and talk like this?”
And that fellow said, “Son, the Bible is just business to me. I don’t personally believe what it says, but it’s how I make my money.” Sam was heartbroken, and immediately decided he no longer wanted to work with this company. So he eventually got in touch with a company out of England called the Thomas Nelson Company, began a U.S. arm of their business, and laid the foundation for one of the largest Christian book publishers in the country!
Had Sam not stood for his principles, he’d probably be living a very ordinary life. But God blessed his obedience and used it to spread His Word like never before. Stay faithful to God’s following in your life because He’ll bless your work and use you to change the world!
STAY FAITHFUL TO GOD’S LEADING IN YOUR LIFE AND YOU’LL BE FULFILLED IN YOUR WORK AS HE IMPACTS THE WORLD THROUGH YOU!
