HOW TO OVERCOME EVIL WITH GOOD

Romans 12:19-21 (GNB)

Never take revenge, my friends, but instead let God’s anger do it. For the scripture says, “I will take revenge, I will pay back, says the Lord.” Instead, as the scripture says: “If your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them a drink; for by doing this you will make them burn with shame.” Do not let evil defeat you; instead, conquer evil with good.

The first way to overcome evil with good is to know that greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world, (1 John 4:4). He that is in you is God and God is love. The love and goodness of God in you are greater than all of the hate and evil that is in the world. You must also know that there is nothing anybody does to you that can stop the plan and purpose of God for your life. All things will work together for your good, (Rom.8:28). As such, be ready to forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing.

Prayer also helps a lot. Prayer gives you God’s peace and it’s a channel for you to express God’s love to the person who hurt you. Pray in the Spirit and ask God to comfort and heal you of that hurt. Then declare in faith that you love that person and pray good prayers for the person.

Love works just like faith. God’s love fills our hearts the more we hear the gospel of God’s love for us in Christ. 1 John 3:16 (GNB) says, “This is how we know what love is: Christ gave his life for us. We too, then, ought to give our lives for others!” God’s love is not based on feelings. Just as with faith, love also requires you to believe with your heart, declare that you love the person and take actions in line with your love for the person.

Prayer:
Father I thank you that your love empowers me to overcome evil with good. Help me release your love to those who hurt me.
