HOW TO RECEIVE AND APPLY THE REVELATION OF CHRIST

James 1:23-25 (TPT) If you listen to the Word and don’t live out the message you hear, you become like the person who looks in the mirror… You perceive how God sees you in the mirror of the Word, but then you go out and forget … But those who set their gaze deeply into the perfecting law of liberty are fascinated by and respond to the truth they hear and are strengthened by it—they experience God’s blessing in all that they do!

The perfect law of liberty mentioned in our text above refers solely to the revelation of Christ. Jesus said He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6) and when we continue in His word, we’ll know the truth and the truth will make us free, (John 8:31-32).

The only way we can apply the revelation of Christ to our lives is if we remember it or remain conscious of it. Hence, we must focus on it so much that it takes a major place both in our conscious until it penetrates our subconscious. As the translation in our text above says, we must set our gaze deeply on the revelation of Christ and be fascinated by it. We must delight in God’s word to meditate on it day and night. This is what makes God’s word have various impacts in our lives, (Psa.1:2-3).

As the revelation of Christ fills you, yield and respond to it. Allow it to influence how you see yourself and how you react to life. Meditate on it by quietly speaking it to yourself to renew your mind and declare it out loud to exercise your faith in various situations. Act only in line with the consciousness of who the revelation of Christ says you are in Christ. This is how we use God’s word to instruct or train ourselves in righteousness, (2 Tim.3:17).

Action Point:

Think of something God has made you in Christ. Thank God for it. Declare it to yourself as your reality. Act in line with it today.
