HOW TO SHOW GOD YOU LOVE HIM

1 John 4:20-21 (CEV), Matthew 25:40 (TPT)

But if we say we love God and don’t love each other, we are liars. We cannot see God. So how can we love God, if we don’t love the people we can see? The commandment that God has given us is: “Love God and love each other!” *“And the King will answer them, ‘Don’t you know? When you cared for one of the least important of these my little ones, my true brothers and sisters, you demonstrated love for me.’

Anybody can say they love God; but the true way to show we love God is by expressing the love of God to people. It’s not by telling God how much we love Him. God did not show us He loves us by telling us how much He loves us. He showed us how much He loves us by sending Jesus to die for our sins even when we were still sinners and His enemies, (John 3:16, Rom.5:8).

We love God because He first loved us and we show God we love Him by loving others, (1 John 4:19-20). When you receive the love of God you cannot keep it to yourself. The love of God will transform you and begin to influence the way you live your life. You will extend the same love God has extended to you unto others.

God is watching out for how we treat each other to know how much we love Him and have received His love. Especially how we treat fellow believers who may never be able to repay us in any way. God doesn’t want us to be people who always say we love Him or that we love people but never show it. “Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions,” (1 John 3:18, NLT). As we preach the Gospel, we must also express God’s love and kindness by helping one another and forbearing with one another, (Col.3:13).

Prayer:
I thank you Dear Father for the great love you have for me. Please help me to reflect this love in my interactions with people.
