Memorise: “And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” – Matthew 25:30
Read: 1 Corinthians 15:13-15
13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
Bible In One Year: Proverbs 3-4, 1 Corinthians 13
MESSAGE:
It is a very good and honourable thing to work for God, however, we must ask ourselves regularly, “How valuable am I in the kingdom of God?”
When you work for God, but not with all your heart, you are not offering good value to Him. When your motive for doing God’s work is wrong, it will affect the value that you offer to Him. Are you a choir member just because you want to show everyone that you are a good singer? If you are like that, then you will not be singing to bring down the glory of God, rather you will be singing to get applause from the congregation, thereby offering low value to God. If you are an instrumentalist who gists outside the church while sermon is going on, you are not offering good value to God. The spiritual quality of your playing the instruments is dependent on the spiritual food that you consume.
Don’t serve Him with an ulterior motive, rather, serve Him with all your heart.
Reflection:
Examine your motives to see if you are offering valuable service to God.
Hymn 7:
1. I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Chorus:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!
4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
