For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers.
Naaman, the leper, received a message of hope – an Israelite prophet could heal him! He hurried off to Israel with a letter from his Syrian king.
When Naaman arrived, the king read the short note: “Now be advised, when this letter comes to you, that I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may heal him of his leprosy” (II Kings 5:6). The king tore his robes in distress. He had no power to heal Naaman of leprosy, and his resulting death would result in all-out war with Israel!
When Elisha, the man of God, heard the king’s dilemma, he sent a message: “Why have you torn your clothes? Please let him come to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel” (II Kings 5:8).
The king had position, but no power. When faced with a cure-or-be-conquered situation, his royalty, army, and treasury were of no use.
Elisha had power that did not arise from wealth, might or office. It was the power of the Most High! All of the capability and authority of His Father came to bear on the situation. When he hit his knees, all of heaven moved on his behalf. Just like Elisha, as God’s dearly loved children, we hold the position and the power to change the world.
Blessing:
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May you walk as a dearly loved child of God, finding power through prayer and authority through His Word. Amen and amen.
