IDENTITY-BASED LIVING

1Peter 2:9, 2Corinthians 5:21, Revelation 5:10

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: *For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. *And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

The way you are living your life and the way your life is going is greatly determined by your identity or mental picture of yourself. Your behaviour is an outflow of whom you believe you are, what you believe you have and what you believe you can do. If for example, you are not aware that you have been promoted to a top management position in your organization, you will keep behaving like someone in a lower position and you will be living below what is expected of you. Because of Christ, your identity has changed in every area of your life. You are a new creation and you have new glorious realities and identities.

Do you know who you are in Christ? Do you know all that Christ has made you? The sons of sceva could not answer when they were asked who they were, (Acts 19:15). Until you discover and receive your new identities in Christ, you cannot walk in them. Until you renew your mind with whom Christ has made you, your life will not be transformed, (Rom.12:2). You will keep living like you were before you got saved and like everybody else around you. Fill yourself with the revelation of Christ and all you are in Him, (Col.3:16). Declare them out loud to yourself continually. Do this until it takes over your mind and consciousness and begins to reflect in your life.

Action Point:
Thank God for the new and glorious identities He has given you in Christ. Declare as many as possible to yourself now.
