Memorise: “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,” 2 Peter 3:3
Read: 2 Peter 3:1-9
1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Bible In One Year: 1 Kings 19-20; John 2
MESSAGE:
If you know that you are destined for greatness, there is a group of people you must be prepared to deal with – the mockers. A mocker is someone who makes fun of something or someone.
When you share your dreams and aspirations, you will find mockers around who will laugh at them. Ignore them. On the path to success, there will be failures and regrets, when these failures occur, there will be mockers who will laugh at you. Don’t listen to their discouraging words.
The only person whose opinion you must never ignore on your way to success is God. As long as you have the assurance from Him that you are on the right path, ignore anyone who tells you that your dreams are impossible or invalid. For with God, nothing shall be impossible.
Key Point:
Anyone who does not contribute to your progress or encourage you in any way is an excess luggage. Do away with them.
Hymn 13:
1.I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining everyday;
Still praying as I onward bound
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
Chorus:
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table-land;
Where love, and joy, and light abound, Lord, plant my feet on higher
ground.
2.My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise, and fears dismay; Though some may dwell where these abound,
My constant aim is higher ground.
3.Beyond the mist I fain would rise,
To rest beneath unclouded skies,
Above earth’s turmoil peace is found
By those who dwell on higher ground.
4.I long to scale the utmost height,
Though rough the way, and hard the fight,
My song, while climbing, shall resound Lord,
lead me on to higher ground.
5.Lord, lead me up the mountain side
I dare not climb without my Guide;
And, heaven gained, I’ll gaze around,
With grateful heart from higher ground.
