Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee

Elisha was Elijah’s successor – a man of God, handpicked by God, to do the work of God.

God commanded Elijah to anoint Elisha to be the prophet in his place (I Kings 19:16). Elijah had no vote. Why is that important? If a man had chosen Elisha, he would have felt compelled to meet his expectations. When God picks and places someone, He anoints him to fulfill his divine destiny.

God sent Moses to anoint Joshua. God sent Samuel to anoint David. God, through Jesus Christ, chose Saul on the road to Damascus. If they would have been appointed and anointed by a mere man, they would have lived up to their human opinions and expectations.

However, they were empowered by God to do what no one else could do. When you are anointed by God, the walls of Jericho fall. You stand fearlessly in front of giants. You put pen to parchment in a prison cell to write, “In all of these things, we are more than conquerors through Christ…!”

You are appointed and anointed by God. His is the only opinion that matters. The only expectations you must meet belong to Him, and He has graciously equipped you for every good work. He has picked and positioned and prepared you!

Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. You are established, anointed, and sealed by God. What a privilege to co-labor with a King!
