Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, ‘Where is the Lord God of Elijah?
Like Israel, under the corrupt rule of Ahab and Jezebel, our nation has forgotten our foundation of faith. We tolerate anything but Truth, floundering in a sea of political correctness.
The prophet, Amos, envisioned a famine in the last days – not of bread or water, but of the words of the Lord (Amos 8:11). That famine does not mean that no access to the Word will exist, but that no appetite for the Word will exist. We echo the words of Elisha: “Where is the Lord God of Elijah?”
Where is that bold voice unashamed to declare the truth? Who is the person willing to announce to a lost generation that there is one true God? Jesus is not one prophet among many, a mere teacher of morality. He is our Redeemer Who now intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father.
Our Sovereign God is on His throne. He needs no political party or slick candidate with proper speaking points to shift a generation back to Him.
He needs an Elijah or Elisha to blaze brightly in a dark generation, to stand against the rising tide of evil, to speak life-giving words to change the world. We know where God is. Where are you?
Blessing:
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May you be filled with Holy Spirit power to speak God’s Word with boldness. May you overcome evil with His goodness to the glory of His name.
