But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come…

God loves us too much to leave us without warning or time to prepare. In another apocalyptic passage, Paul pulls back the curtain to reveal why believers need to be vigilant in the last days.

Paul minced no words as he spoke of a culture in which people would love themselves and money, be proud, boastful, blasphemous, disobedient to their parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, and have a form of godliness while denying its power. He warns us to turn away from such people (II Timothy:2-5).

Signs of the times abound – a culture consumed with money and materialism; people steeped in self-absorption with no self-control; and a lukewarm church that appears presentable but has no power or purity. The news is not all bad though.

The prophet, Joel, unveiled a promise that God would pour out His Spirit on every kind of people in the last days, that our daughters will prophesy, our old men will experience divine dreams, and our young men will have Godly visions. For every person who calls on His name, He will come to their rescue. Deliverance and salvation will be evident among His people (Joel 2). Even in perilous times, God is on the move!

Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May God fill you to the uttermost with the power and discernment of His Holy Spirit. May He set His seal upon you for that glorious day of redemption!
