It Lasts Forever

“Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.”

1 Corinthians 13:8

Show me a good loser and I’ll show you a loser! If you go into any contest with the idea that it doesn’t matter whether you win or lose, you might as well not play! I am not a good loser, I admit that. I may have run out of time, or gotten stampeded, or outscored, but in my mind I didn’t lose – we just stopped playing before I could figure this thing out and begin to win! 1 CORINTHIANS 13 states that love never fails, it never loses. In the Greek the word is “fall.” It means that love never stops, it never gives up, it never surrenders, it never quits. Love just keeps on keeping on.

Love is always a winner. I like that. Why doesn’t love fail? It is because God is love. Love is the very nature and character of God. No wonder Paul encourages us to “pursue love!”
