Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death

In 2 Kings 5, we meet Naaman, the commander of the Syrian army. He was a powerful and popular soldier, but he had a problem. He was a leper.

What began as a small spot on his skin bloomed into a full-scale onslaught that threatened everything he valued – his family, health, military career, and prosperity. As their health deteriorated, so did their ability to make a living. At that time, lepers became societal outcasts who were forced to live in colonies away from their families. Death was the inevitable outcome.

Without the saving grace of Christ, we are like Naaman. No matter how successful or strong we appear, we have a sin condition. If left unchecked, this condition infects every area of our lives and leads to our demise.

Our loving God has planned a hope-filled future for each one, but Satan has an alternate plan to kill, steal, and destroy us. He aims to steal the abundant life found in Jesus, to kill our potential, and to bring us down to utter ruin.

Sin always diminishes us; it always makes our lives less than God intended. Only one person holds the cure for our condition, and His name is Jesus. Through Him, we reclaim our divine destiny and the lavish life He promises.

Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. Come to Calvary to find the cure for your sin condition. Be washed in the blood of Jesus to find the eternal, abundant life that begins now!
