JESUS DISPLAYED SPIRITUAL MINDEDNESS

Hebrews 12:1-2

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Right from age 12, Jesus began to give Himself to training and consuming Himself with the knowledge that He needed to carry out His Father’s business, (Luke 2:41-50). He was confident of His identity in God and He did not need to prove to the devil that He was God’s Son, by turning stone into bread. He did not need to tempt God by jumping down from the top of the temple so angels would catch Him. He knew He did not have to worship the devil to acquire all the power and glory of all the kingdoms of the
world. He knew what was written and He used it consistently to confront every temptation the devil threw at Him, (Luke 4:1-13).

Jesus saw people the way God saw them – as God’s harvest, (Matt.9:36-38). His meat was to do God’s will and finish it, (John 4:34). He knew that He and His Father were one, (John 10:30). He did only what He saw the Father doing (John 5:19) and He knew that it was the Father in Him that was doing all the work, (John 14:10). Jesus gave Himself a lot to prayer, (Mark 1:35). Jesus spoke to winds, storms and a fig tree. He was willing to come down to the earth as a man and to suffer and die a shameful death on the Cross, because His eyes were fixed on the glory we will experience by His sacrifice. We are the joy that was set before Him.

Prayer:
Father, I thank you that by the life of Christ in me, I can be as spiritually minded as Jesus is. Please help me to be spiritually minded.
