JESUS HAS TAKEN YOUR JUDGMENT

HEBREWS 9:27-28a, ROMAN’S 5:8-9 (LB)

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; …*But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since by his blood he did all this for us as sinners, how much more will he do for us now that he has declared us not guilty? Now he will save us from all of God’s wrath to come.

The Bible doesn’t just say “it is appointed unto men once to die and after that is judgment.” The Bible goes on to say ‘that is why Jesus died for the sins of many.’ It was a statement pointing us to what Jesus has graciously done for us on the cross of Calvary. On the cross, God poured out all His anger on Jesus. We died with Jesus and our sins were immediately judged by His death.

When John the Baptist said “Behold the Lamb of God, that takes away the sin of the world,” he was also saying “Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the judgment of the world.” Jesus died to take away sin and all its consequences for the whole world (1John 2:2); however, it’s only those who put their faith in Him that will receive His life and the freedom from judgment/punishment for sin that He has paid for.

This is why we must preach the Gospel, so people can know and receive this life and freedom, (2Cor. 5:19, NIV). It is those who reject God’s offer of salvation through Christ that will face God’s judgment when Jesus returns, (2Thes.1:7-9). God’s punishment for sin is death (eternal separation from Him/ eternal damnation) – Rom.6:23. On the cross, Jesus was separated from God so that by our faith in Him we will never be separated from God anymore.

PRAYER:
FATHER, I THANK YOU FOR SENDING JESUS TO DIE FOR ME AND TAKE YOUR JUDGMENT AWAY. USE ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL OF YOUR LOVE TO OTHERS.
