Yes, strength and wisdom are his; deceivers and deceived are both in his power

Jacob deceived his brother, father, and uncle. He plotted and pilfered his way through life. What he did not realize is that he was deceiving himself.

He believed that it was all up to him and all because of him. As he camped out one night, he had a vision of a ladder with angels descending and ascending to the Father. God promised to bless Jacob and all his descendants.

Jacob was certain that his craftiness and deception were required to get the blessings he desired. He was convinced that he needed to manipulate people and predicaments to turn in his favor. He was wrong.

Jacob did not receive those blessings because of his own strength, brilliance or strategy for every situation. He received them because God was faithful to the promise He made to him.

God is faithful to us…because of Who He is. When we deserve less, He gives us much more. When we are disobedient, He is merciful. When we are sinful, He still loves us. When we are stubborn, He does not give up on us.

Angels ascend with our prayers and petitions. In His strength and wisdom, God sends down exactly what we need. It is not up to us, and He deserves all the glory. We are blessed, because He made a promise.

Today’s Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. The blessings that God has promised are yours today and forevermore. They will make you rich and add no sorrow. All praise belongs to Him!
