Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life’
At the end of a 40-day fast, when Jesus was weak and hungry, Satan whisked Him to the top of a high mountain where the kingdoms of the world were spread before Him in their glory. “All these things I will give you,” he promised, “if you will fall down and worship me” (Matthew 4:9).
Satan possessed that ability. When the former angel of light was cast from heaven, he became the prince of darkness, the ruler of this world. Where spiritual darkness exists, Satan has authority. Jesus, the Light of the world, withstood the temptation and sent him away with the word of God ringing in his ears.
For those who trust in Him, He fills us with that same light of life. He charges us to shine this light before others, so they may see our good works and glorify our heavenly Father. We are like a city set on a hill ablaze with light; we cannot hide this glorious treasure inside.
Let’s stop complaining about the darkness, and turn on the light! Speak the Word of God to break down barriers and snap shackles. The prince of darkness must flee when the light of life explodes from the mouth of the believer. That is the power we possess!
Today’s Blessing:
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. The Light will never be extinguished. May you be set ablaze with the light and life and love of God!
