MEMORISE: The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Romans 8:16

READ: Romans 8:14-17

14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 18-19; Matthew 6

MESSAGE:

An heir is a son or daughter to a king. This implies that the son or daughter has as many rights as the king. Sometimes, the heir to a kingdom Iives larger than the king himself. So, joint heirs with Christ are sons and daughters of God. Hence, all the power, rights and privileges that Jesus has, we have.

The implication of this is that a joint heir with Christ can perform miracles just the way Jesus did when on earth. Not Just that. the authority to cast out demons has also been given to us. In addition to that, we have access to the Father we can call on Him anytime and He will answer. Unfortunately, some heirs are living like servants. When an heir in the kingdom of God allows sin to rule over him or her. such a person will live like a servant. Sin robs an heir of his or her authority. If you are living like a servant, there is room for you to confess and repent today so that you can be restored to your true position as an heir.

Reflection:

Are you living like an heir or a servant?

Hymn 11: In Christ Alone My Hope Is Found

  1. In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song,
    This Cornerstone, this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
  2. In Christ alone! Who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on the cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live.
  3. There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
  4. No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
    Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.
